  • Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD)
  • Hypertension
  • Cognitive Dysfunction
  • Hyperthyroidism
  • Arthritis and Osteoarthritis

By catching these conditions early, we can work together to ensure your cat receives the best possible care and maintains a good quality of life.

What’s included in our nurse-led senior cat clinic?

  • Health Check: Comprehensive examination of your cat’s overall health.
  • Teeth Check: Ensure your cat's teeth and gums are in good condition.
  • Mobility Check: Assess your cat’s mobility and joint health.
  • Blood Pressure Measurement: Check for any potential issues.

What to expect                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Senior cat 2

1. When to book an appointment

We recommend scheduling a visit when your cat turns 12 and continuing with regular check-ups, especially as they reach 15 years old and beyond, considered "super senior" age.

2. Preparing for the visit

  • Upon booking, you'll receive an email with a pre-consultation questionnaire. This helps us understand your cat's current health and any concerns you might have.
  • We recommend purchasing a Katkor urine collection kit prior to your appointment, available for around £5. Collecting a fresh urine sample (less than 12 hours old and refrigerated) allows us to screen for early signs of conditions like diabetes or kidney disease. While the test won’t provide a definitive diagnosis, it can indicate potential issues and guide recommendations for further testing if necessary.

3. During the appointment

  • Our experienced nurses will create a calm and cat-friendly environment, ensuring your pet feels safe and comfortable.
  • The consultation includes a thorough health check and discussion of any findings. If needed, we can refer you to a veterinary surgeon for further examination.

4. After the appointment

  • If no immediate follow-up with a vet is required, we recommend returning annually to monitor your cat’s health and adjust care plans as needed.
