We are currently accepting applications for EMS placements in our Primary Care department at Eastcott– below is some more information about what a placement might look like for you at our practice.
We also offer EMS with our referral department. Please see the Student Hub Webpage on Eastcott Referrals website here.
EMS student experience
We are a large multi-disciplinary hospital, that includes primary care, imaging, internal medicine, anaesthesia, dentistry, ophthalmology, orthopaedic and soft tissue surgery, neurology, and cardiology.
We focus on developing students' potential by trying to get involved in all aspects we are able to.
Opportunities available for EMS students and working hours
Students normally work a 4 x 10hour day work week to match the vets, not including weekends or bank holidays (unless desired).
There will be opportunities to get involved in surgeries, consults and inpatient care.
What we expect from our EMS students and what they can expect in return
We expect students to be enthusiastic, engaging and keen to learn. In return,
we offer the opportunity, in the right circumstance, to get involved in procedures and to conduct consults in a friendly atmosphere.
Travel and accommodation
Parking is limited and unless you live in Swindon, you will likely need your own car.
There is a bus service nearby, but this may be difficult if the student is on an early start or late finish. We will be as accommodating as possible.
No accommodation is available via the practice. Some of the associates may be able to rent a room out if needed.
Are there any accessibility considerations that I might need to take into account at your practice?
The practice is over 2 floors, however there are 2 lifts. We are a busy practice with a referral team who work independently but share some facilities.
It may not be ideal for students who need a quieter environment
