Our feline patients now have the luxury of listening to calming classical music when they stay with us. Research shows that cats relax (as determined by their lower respiratory rate and pupil diameter) under the influence of classical music. Whilst their nurses may prefer it pop music does not have quite the same effect and heavy metal music has a tendency to make things all a bit too stressful! A cat without stress makes a much happier patient that can mean that lower doses of anaesthetic can be used. Not only do we have music on tap but we also have special ‘cat forts’ and curtains available for those cats that like their privacy. Only 5 star treatment is good enough for our patients.
