Guess the Breed

Guess the breed! - this little cutie is a pedigree puppy, not a cross breed. Can you guess the breed?

Black and white puppy

Another clue? This is what the dog looks like when it is an adult

Black and white dog

Lots of people guessed at black and white Springer, Brittany or Cocker Spaniel but if you look at the photos below you will see that whilst very similar and very good guesses, they are a litle different, mainly around the ears?

Springer pup    brittany spaniel puppies cocker spaniel puppy

Springer Spaniel Puppy                                   Brittany Spaniel Puppies                            Cocker Spaniel Puppy

All very good guesses but the breed of the puppy in the photos is... REVEAL

The Large Munsterlander

The Large Munsterlander is a breed of gun dog originally from the Münster region in Germany. The Kennel Club in England recognised the breed in 1919 and established the breed standard in 1921. They originated in Germany and are said to be lively, dependable, loyal, trustworthy, affectionate and trainable. The male is approx 60–65 cm and can weigh between 23-32 kg and the female: 58–63 cm weighing the same. They come in  blue roan and  black & white.

Well done if you guessed correctly it was a tricky one!

There is also a Small Munsterlander weighing 17-26kg and standing 50-55cm)
