Lydiard Bark Dog Show 2nd July 2017
The Lydiard Bark Dog Show What You Need to Know
What is the Lydiard Bark Charity Dog Show?
The Lydiard Bark is an annual fun dog show run in Swindon for charity by Eastcott Vets Swindon. It is a friendly event with a country feel and is run by volunteers form the Eastcott Vets Team in their free time. It is a fun event for dog owners and their dogs and is well supported by donations and sponsorship from local and national businesses. This is the 4th Lydiard Bark Charity Dog Show.
Where is the Lydiard Bark Dog Show?
The Show is at Lydiard Park in Swindon. It is on the Events Field which is best accessed via the Hook Street entrance. Parking in the standard car park near the cafe will only be permitted for blue badge holders on the day. Other visitors will be directed past the normal entrance to a field slightly further up on the right (if approaching with the normal entrance on the right). Parking charges are in force so please remember to buy a ticket (£4 for the day - no change given in the machines) We advise visitors to bring camping chairs and picnic rugs!
When does the dog show open?
The dog show opens officially at 11am but class bookings will be taken from 10.30am. The show closes at 4pm. Class timings can be viewed HERE
How can you book a class?
Pre-bookings have now closed but there are currently plenty of spaces left for on the day booking on a first come first served basis. There are 60 places per class and we have at least 50 left for on the day booking. We have booking forms for on the day bookings. If you have pre-booked, visit pre-booking on the day to collect your show numbers and goodie bags.
How much are dog show classes?
On the day bookings are £3 per class. Each dog will receive an Eastcott Vets Goodie Bag
Can I enter a puppy into the Lydiard Bark Dog Show?
Fully vaccinated puppies are welcome to come to the show. It is a great way of socialising them. If entering a 'size' class, they should be entered into the class taking into account the size that they will be when fully grown.
How are the dog show classes run?
To enable more people to participate in the dog show, we allow up to 60 dogs per class. We have 6 judges and in pairs they judge 20 dogs each. Each pair selects their top 3 dogs and these 9 will go into the final. All 6 judges will then pick 3 highly commended and the top 6 places. All 9 will receive rosettes and the top 3 will receive prizes donated by class sponsors. Dog show sponsor prizes can be seen HERE.
This is a fun show and judges will be looking and dogs themselves and talking to their owners about their dog's backgrounds and accessing their characters. The judges' decisions are final!
The Best in Show class is made up of the 12 class winners.
What time are Lydiard Bark Dog Show Classes?
The estimated class timings can be found HERE
What is the Lydiard Bark Games Ring?
The Games Ring is run by Speak Dog Training and Behaviour and Wagging Tails Home from Home Boarding. They will be running games throughout the day so that you can visit and participate between show classes, or indeed visit for the games alone. Details of the games can be seen HERE. Games can be booked and paid for on the day.
The Lydiard Bark Raffle
The now famous Lydiard Bark raffle is made up of very generous prizes. This year we have over £1,000 worth of fabulous prizes. Tickets will be available to buy on the day. The raffle will be drawn at 3.50pm. A full list of Lydiard Bark Raffle Prizes can be seen HERE
What else is there to do at the dog show?
Trade stalls surround the trade ring making it easy to visit whilst keeping an eye on the rings. There will be refreshments, dog related goods, face painting and games for the children. We are positioned next to the children's play area (and there are toilets nearby). As this is an outdoor event, we advise that you bring cash as the majority of traders will not have the ability to take card payments. The list of traders can be seen HERE
What happens if it is hot?
There will be a shaded cool down area for dogs if the weather is unduly warm. Water, sponges and sprays will be available to help keep dogs cooled. Vets and clinical staff are available to access the condition of dogs throughout the day and will advise accordingly if a dog or dogs should be considered at risk of over heating.
Class pre-booking will close on 23rd June and Trader bookings will close on 19th June
