Laparoscopy (and Thoracoscopy) run by Tim Charlesworth MA VetMB CertSAS MRCVS is becoming increasingly popular among veterinary surgeons and their clients following the now widespread use of key-hole surgery in the medical sectors. There are countless opportunities where laparoscopy provides a unique ability to diagnose, intervene or cure many surgical conditions in a minimally invasive manner with subsequent decreased patient morbidity and shorter recovery times. Examples of applications of laparoscopy include - prophylactic gastropexy, liver biopsy, pancreatic biopsy, kidney biopsy, exploratory surgeries, retained testis removal (cryptorchid castration), spay - ovariectomy or ovariohysterectomy, tumour staging, evaluation and biopsy.
