Eastcott Vets Careers Evening Quiz

  1. What became law on 6th April 2016
Seat Belts for Dogs   Micro chipping for Cats   Micro chipping for Dogs
  2. Which breed of cat loves to swim?
    Manx    Siamese    Turkish Van
  3. What is it called when a cat has extra toes?
    Multi digital    Polydactylism  Polyphalangism
  4. How many Vet Schools are there in England and Scotland
6    7   8 (Liverpool, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Nottingham, London, Bristol, Surrey and Cambridge)
  5. Ringworm is a contagious disease that is caused by a worm that burrows under the skin
True    False (ringworm in a fungal infection)
  6. Cats always land on their feet
True    False (cats have an amazing righting reflex that allows them to orient themselves as they fall in order to land on their feet. This does not always happen however. Cats falling from height often fracture their jaws)
  7. Which other animal apart from dogs and cats can travel on a Pet Passport?
    Hamster    Tortoise  Ferret   Guinea Pig
  8. All tortoiseshell cats are female
True    False (now, we allowed a true and false answer for this one! We wanted to see whether you knew the genetic peculiarity that means that male tortoiseshell cats are extrodinarily rare (and are often infertile). The vast majority of tortoiseshell cats are female, because two X chromosomes are required to produce black, gold and orange coloring. Male cats only have one X and one Y chromosome, so technically it's genetically almost impossible for a male to inherit thetortoiseshell coloring)
  9. The most common reason for a dog scooting it’s bottom on the ground because it has:
worms    full anal glands   wind  (dogs scooting because of worms is actually uncommon, most dogs scoot either because they simply have an itch, or because they have full anal glands)
  10. Which of these foods are poisonous to dogs?
onions  raisins  chocolate (grapes are too!)
  11. Which of these are toxic to cats?
    lilies    paracetamol    antifreeze   tuna
